Metal Restoration. At some point most metalwork will require some degree of restoration.
(Above: Bench ends before restoration.
Cast iron can crack & need pinning, brazing or welding. Corrosion can erode components
such as scrolls hinges or metal joints.
Successive layers of paint can build up on items so detail is lost or the sub layers
lose adhesion & paint starts to flake.
MEL offers a full in-house restoration service. Excessive build up of old paint can
be removed by several process to take the object back to a bare metal state. Components
that are corroded beyond an acceptable level can be removed if necessary and replicas
made. Cracks in castings can be repaired and then the item can be refinished to prevent
atmospheric corrosion and preserve the restored item.
